ER Tech - Emergency Department - Full Time, Night-Shift
About The Position
The ED Tech assists nursing and medical staff by performing selected procedures and emergent duties in the care of Emergency Department patients. The role also performs Unit Secretary duties, combining clinical and clerical responsibilities. All duties must be within the scope of the employee’s training and instruction and are performed under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. The Emergency Department has 32 beds across four pods and nine beds in the Clinical Decision Unit, and treats an average of more than 150 patients per day. Cases include acute cardiovascular and neurovascular emergencies, general medical emergencies, traumatic injuries, and psychiatric patients. Patients range in age from neonates to geriatric patients. The department is recognized as an American Heart Association STEMI receiving center and designated Primary Stroke Center, and emphasizes teamwork and collaboration among a multidisciplinary group of professionals.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Recent experience in a health care setting providing patient care.
- BCLS certification within the first 90 days.
Responsibilities
- Performs clerical desk duties with a high level of accuracy.
- Provides care appropriate to the emergency population and maintains the environment of care.
- Assists the nursing staff in triage.
- Assists nursing and medical staff with selected procedures and emergent patient-care duties.
- Performs Unit Secretary duties.
