About The Position

The ER Tech/Health Unit Coordinator combines the essential functions of an ER Tech and a Health Unit Coordinator, with duties based on operational needs. The ER Tech performs technical and clinical tasks and procedures under Registered Nurse supervision and as delegated in accordance with the Ohio Board of Nursing. The role identifies abnormal findings using established standards and guidelines and reports them to the Registered Nurse.

The Health Unit Coordinator supports the overall functioning of the unit by coordinating communication, entering data, and stocking or ordering supplies. The role provides clerical assistance to physicians and staff and offers direction and guidance to patients, families, and visitors to promote a positive patient experience. Tasks are performed under RN oversight and in coordination with other team members.

Requirements

• High school completion or GED.
• Current HealthCare Provider or Professional Rescuer BLS CPR certification required prior to completion of orientation.
• No prior job-related work experience is required.
• Successful completion of at least one of the following: previous STNA or CNA training; Patient Care Technician/Assistant training; direct patient care experience within the last five years involving vital signs and direct care activities such as bathing, turning/positioning, or toileting; current enrollment in nursing school with at least one clinical rotation completed; or EMT Basic.
