About The Position

The ER Tech/Health Unit Coordinator (ER Tech/HUC) combines the essential roles of an ER Tech and an HUC, functioning according to operational needs. The ER Tech performs technical and clinical tasks and procedures under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and as delegated in accordance with the Ohio Board of Nursing. The ER Tech identifies abnormal findings based on established standards and guidelines and reports them to the Registered Nurse.

The HUC supports the overall function of the unit by coordinating communication, performing data entry, and stocking and ordering supplies. The role provides clerical assistance to physicians and staff and offers direction and guidance to patients, families, and visitors while promoting a positive patient experience. Tasks are performed under RN oversight and in coordination with other team members.

Requirements

• High school completion or GED.
• Successful completion of one of the following: previous STNA or CNA training; Patient Care Technician/Assistant training; direct patient care experience within the last five years involving vital signs and fundamental care activities such as bathing, turning/positioning, and toileting; current enrollment in nursing school with at least one clinical rotation completed; or EMT Basic.
• Current CPR certification will be completed during orientation.

Nice To Haves

• Medical terminology experience preferred.
