About The Position

MercyOne is hiring a Monitor Tech to observe cardiac monitors for changes in cardiac rhythm, communicate identified changes to the nurse caring for patients of diverse ages, and document cardiac status appropriately. The role supports telemetry units and includes rhythm-strip interpretation, clerical tasks, and maintaining telemetry supplies and equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Successful completion of a monitor class.
• Complete mandatory reporter abuse training specific to the population served within three months of hire.

• Previous health care experience, including monitor experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac rhythms on telemetry units.
• Obtain and interpret rhythm strips and report identified changes.
• Perform clerical duties, including maintaining rhythm strips in patient records, answering phones and the intercom, and notifying the assigned nurse.
• Maintain telemetry supplies, including paper, batteries, patches, and pouches.
• Maintain knowledge of telemetry equipment setup, maintenance, and use.
• Observe cardiac monitors for rhythm changes, communicate changes to the nurse caring for the patient, and document cardiac status appropriately.
