About The Position

North America Central School Bus is hiring part-time School Bus Monitors/Aides in Waukegan, Illinois. The role supports the safe transportation of students by monitoring passengers, maintaining order, assisting students as they board and exit, and working with drivers, school personnel, parents, and students. The position also includes assisting with inspections, safety procedures, paperwork, and cleaning the bus.

Requirements

Good verbal communication skills.
At least 21 years old.
Hold a valid state ID.
Pass a background check, drug screen, and physical.

Responsibilities

Know the route and remain alert to monitor passengers’ welfare while en route.
Keep order on the bus.
Communicate behavior problems and conditions at various stops to the driver.
Cooperate and communicate with school personnel, parents, and students.
Assist with pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections, including child checks, CSRS, and wheelchair lifts.
Assist students during loading and unloading.
Attend safety and training meetings.
Conduct emergency bus evacuations, including through the emergency door; may physically remove a disabled child from the bus.
Assist the driver with required paperwork for the district, state, ICSB, and other parties.
Clean the inside of the bus, including sweeping, dusting, and cleaning windows.
Perform other specialized functions as required by contract.
