About The Position

The Mold Design Engineering Intern will support extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to Flex's growth. The intern will be located at our Buffalo Grove, IL site and will report to the Design & Engineering Manager. The student will assist with daily engineering tasks while learning, collaborating, and working alongside Engineers and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Junior/Senior student pursuing Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Available to work 40 hours/week (in-person) for 10-12 week Summer assignment
• Currently enrolled in 4-year accredited university
• 3.0 minimum GPA

Nice To Haves

• Enthusiastic about working in a manufacturing environment and interest in plastic injection molding process
• Highly collaborative, creative and excellent communication skills
• Solidworks CAD and troubleshooting knowledge highly desired
• Previous internship experience a plus!

Responsibilities

• Assist Engineering Team with continuous improvement project(s)
• Attend Design Status, Customer/Internal Review and Continuous Improvement Meetings
• Complete assigned work orders and provide 2D and 3D models
• Learn fundamentals of plastic injection mold design
• Update design guidelines and standards
• Work with the Tool Shop to obtain hands-on manufacturing experience
