About The Position

Founded to serve the specialized needs of the commercial truck and equipment industry, Custom Truck One Source has grown into a leading provider of custom-built vehicles, including bucket trucks, dump trucks, cranes, and mobile hydraulic equipment. As an Engineering Intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience designing and supporting innovative solutions for these specialized vehicles and equipment. You will work closely with experienced engineering peers, mentors and managers to develop technical skills in electrical, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering, while contributing to real-world projects that drive our mission of delivering customized, high-quality trucks and equipment. Requirements

  • Pursuit of Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Manufacturing, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, OnShape, Inventor, AutoCAD, Draftsight, etc
  • Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel and Word
  • Regular, reliable attendance
  • Work productively and meet deadlines timely
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
  • Perform work safely and effectively; understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies
  • Ability to sit in an office setting and perform computer work
  • Ability to walk shop floor with workers and see issues firsthand
  • Operation and review of construction equipment may be occasionally required; proper training will be provided prior to operation if necessary
  • Only candidates authorized to work in United States without the need for sponsorship will be considered for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience with CAN buss
  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD software
  • Experience with SolidWorks Electrical Routing
  • Design software – 2D (AutoCAD preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills
  • Learn basic principles of Engineering
  • Work under the guidance of experienced engineers on design projects
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources and conduct
  • Schematic creation and maintenance
  • 3D conductor routing and CAD modeling
  • Creation of harness and pinout drawings
  • Electrical component sizing, specification, and selection
  • Troubleshooting electrical issues on a range of products
  • Providing guidance to shop floor on new installations
  • Deep understanding of Bill of Material (BOM) structures
  • Create detail drawings of 3D models (SolidWorks)
  • Assist technical publications in creation of manuals (parts books, service manuals, operator manuals)
  • Document designs using 3D solid (SolidWorks and/or OnShape) and 2D drafting software (AutoCAD)
  • Evaluate weight and balance issues for road worthiness and crane stability
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineering with development of work orders
  • Maintain revision control on drawings and other controlled documents
  • Generate manuals for designed equipment as required
  • Data entry for Product Data Management system
  • Create detailed drawings of 3D models (SolidWorks and/or OnShape)
  • Create sales support drawings
  • Analyze product failures, develop repairs and redesign accordingly
