Module System Engineer

Apple•Cupertino, CA

About The Position

Design and deploy test instruments that validate camera and battery modules from prototype through high-volume manufacturing. The role involves building test fixtures, automated test sequences, and data acquisition systems; commissioning them at factories; and using them to drive root-cause analysis when modules fail. The work supports the quality and reliability of modules used in consumer electronics, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and wearable devices. This is a generalist role: camera or battery experience is a plus but not required, and module domain knowledge can be developed on the job. Strong fundamentals in test system design, electrical measurement, and problem-solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment are needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field, with experience in electrical design.
  • Experience in test equipment hardware design or hardware validation engineering for PCBs, flex circuits, or System-in-Package (SiP).
  • Strong fundamentals in test system design and electrical measurement.
  • Problem-solving ability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a relevant engineering field with 3+ years of hands-on experience in electrical design, development, and factory testing for consumer electronics.
  • Experience with camera and/or battery module testing.
  • Experience supporting factory builds, contributing to or leading FACA, and managing line-down issues in fast-paced production environments.
  • Working knowledge of industry interfaces and test standards, such as MIPI, I2C, USB, SPMI, and ACI.
  • Familiarity with factory test equipment, end-to-end validation methods, and data interpretation for quality control.
  • Programming or scripting proficiency, such as Python, Lua, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or C++, for test automation, data processing, or analysis.
  • Experience with statistical analysis methods such as SPC, DOE, and Six Sigma.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technical domains quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy test instruments for camera and battery modules from prototype through high-volume manufacturing.
  • Build test fixtures, automated test sequences, and data acquisition systems.
  • Commission test systems at factories.
  • Use test systems to drive root-cause analysis when modules fail.
  • Support quality and reliability of modules used in consumer electronics.
