About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and their families. The role serves families in Pembroke Pines, Miramar, Weston, Davie, Plantation, Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, and surrounding areas in Florida. Veterinarians practice independently on the road, with onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and support from experienced colleagues. Appointments are limited to allow time for thoughtful, unhurried care and conversations with families. Schedules are available for 2 to 5 days per week, including self-managed scheduling options. Compensation depends on schedule: the 5-day full-time option has a $150,000 base salary plus quarterly bonus opportunities; the 4-day full-time option starts at $110,000 plus quarterly bonus opportunities; and 2- and 3-day full-time or self-managed part-time schedules have prorated compensation. Compensation and bonus structure for self-managed schedules are discussed with the employer. Weekend work is arranged by the veterinarian, who chooses four weekend days per month. Candidates must hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), VMD, or BVMS degree and a valid U.S. driver's license. The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance. License verification, a background check, and a driving record review are completed before the start date.
