About The Position

Cox Automotive is hiring Mobile Inspectors at Level 1, Level 2, and Senior levels to conduct on-site vehicle condition inspections for dealer clients within an assigned territory. The position is remote with an assigned territory, and candidates must live within 10 miles of Van Nuys, California. Inspectors document vehicle condition accurately and promptly in accordance with Manheim standards, supporting client trust, marketplace transparency, and inventory flow. They build dealer relationships, represent Cox Automotive, and encourage participation in Manheim mobile inspection services. The role requires minimal supervision, growing independence, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills. The position includes a monthly performance incentive based on inspection volume. Inspectors meeting target production levels can earn approximately $750 per month, and top performers can earn $1,000 or more per month. Incentives are guaranteed during the first three full months under the stated schedule: a prorated guarantee up to $750 in the month of hire, $750 in the first full month, and $500 in each of the second and third full months. Business use of a personal vehicle is reimbursed. The posting lists an hourly base pay range of $18.17–$27.21, while also providing level-specific pay ranges. Inspectors locate, start, move, inspect, and return vehicles safely on dealer lots. They verify vehicle identification and details, document exterior and interior condition, perform basic mechanical checks, and record damage or inoperable features. They manage dealer appointments and territory activity, submit daily reports, use Salesforce.com, collaborate with Manheim colleagues, and follow safety procedures, inspection standards, and the NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy. Senior-level inspectors also serve as inspection resources and support peer onboarding and development. A pre-employment drug test is required; the posting says Cox Automotive does not currently test for marijuana pre-employment for this position.
