About The Position

Cox Automotive is hiring Mobile Inspectors at Level 1, Level 2, and Senior levels to conduct on-site vehicle condition inspections for dealer clients within an assigned territory. The role is remote with an assigned territory, requires candidates to live in Downey, California, or within a 10-mile radius, and involves travel 100% of the time. Inspectors document vehicle condition accurately, thoroughly, and on time according to Manheim standards, supporting client trust, marketplace transparency, and inventory flow. They also build dealer relationships, represent Cox Automotive, and encourage participation in Manheim’s mobile inspection services. The role requires working with minimal supervision, sound judgment, problem-solving, and increasing independence. Level 1 inspectors conduct basic inspections while learning Manheim standards, tools, and client engagement practices. Level 2 inspectors independently manage inspection activity and schedules, conduct detailed inspections, and support territory growth. Senior inspectors perform complex inspections, serve as resources on standards and best practices, and support the onboarding and development of less experienced inspectors. Compensation varies by level: Level 1 pays $18.17–$27.21 per hour, Level 2 pays $19.90–$29.81 per hour, and Senior Level pays $21.83–$32.79 per hour. The position may also offer monthly production incentives; qualifying inspectors may earn approximately $750 per month, with top performers earning $1,000 or more. Incentives are guaranteed during the first three full months according to the schedule in the posting. Business use of a personal vehicle is reimbursed. Employment requires clearing a pre-employment drug test. The role is in a drug-free workplace; use or possession of drugs illegal under federal or state law during work hours, on company property, or in company vehicles is prohibited. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
