About The Position

U-Haul is hiring a Mobile Repair Specialist to maintain and repair its fleet of trucks and trailers in the assigned area. The role involves using U-Haul’s proprietary technology to assess and care for field vehicles, planning and carrying out repairs, and establishing an effective route to reach equipment that is down or inoperable. The specialist works with flexibility and self-management, while following U-Haul standards and supervisor direction. Continued U-Haul equipment education is required. The position offers on-the-job training, a Technician Training program with Ford and GMC classes, a tool purchase program, and opportunities for advancement. The work may involve moderate risks or discomforts, including exposure to moving parts, machinery, fumes, or chemicals, and may require protective clothing or gear. Physical demands include extended periods indoors and outdoors, remaining stationary, moving through spaces, repositioning to use tools, and moving at least 50 pounds with or without assistance.

Requirements

Be a self-starter.
Ability to work without supervision.
Positive attitude.
Familiarity with diagnostic tools.
Understanding of automotive and trailer mechanics.
Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

Repair equipment using appropriate tools and conforming to U-Haul standards.
Perform work in a timely manner.
Determine the causes of operating errors and decide what corrective action to take.
Complete required continued U-Haul equipment education.
Establish an effective route in the assigned area to repair down or inoperable equipment and ensure all equipment is repaired or scheduled for repair.
Maintain an inventory of repair parts and charge out all parts used.
Willingly assist in additional areas as necessary, following supervisor directives and guidance.
