About The Position

We are seeking a customer-focused, technically skilled Mobile Locksmith Technician to partner with an Automotive Mobile Sales Representative and deliver automotive key duplication and locksmith services from a fully equipped company van. The technician serves as the face of the mobile operation and is responsible for providing high-quality workmanship and an excellent customer experience. The role pays $25 per hour plus 5% commission on sales and includes a company van and fuel card for business use. Typical schedules are 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, Thursday–Monday or Friday–Tuesday; weekends are required, and schedules and hours may vary with business needs. The position requires daily travel to one store within a 50-mile radius. The job description also notes that daily driving may reach 200 miles. The technician assists customers with automotive locksmith needs, including key cutting and key fob programming or cloning; operates and maintains the mobile store; manages inventory and customer meetings; and keeps the van clean and in showroom condition. Employees are expected to participate in safety and health program activities, including reporting hazards and unsafe practices, wearing required personal protective equipment, and supporting safety committee activities. Duties may change or be assigned as needed. The work environment varies by location and store setup and may involve cramped quarters, dust, fumes, or odors. Hand/eye coordination and functional vision and hearing are required. Physical demands include regularly lifting up to 50 pounds (more occasionally), as well as a stated Sales/Service demand of lifting up to 30 pounds and occasionally pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Automotive locksmithing experience, including cutting, programming, and cloning keys.
Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Locksmith License, which may require passing an FBI background check.
Experience with a variety of aftermarket key programmers.
Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Knowledge of different OEM transponder systems and keys.
Knowledge and experience using and maintaining electronic and manual key-cutting machines and equipment.
Proficiency with mobile apps, email, and basic computer tools.
Strong customer service orientation and communication skills.
Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights, or holidays as needed.
Willingness and ability to learn new technologies and develop new technical skills.
Strong problem-solving ability and above-average technical/mechanical aptitude.
Trustworthiness, reliability, patience, and attention to detail.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and more occasionally; the Sales/Service physical-demand description also specifies lifting up to 30 pounds and occasionally pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle; daily travel is required and may involve driving up to 200 miles.
