About The Position

The Mixer sets up, operates, or tends machines to mix or blend materials, including liquids, color pigments, and ingredients. The role prepares ink and base for the production floor, performs quality checks and completes worksheets, maintains supplies of colors and ingredients for production, and cleans equipment and the mixing room. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.

Requirements

• Good visual acuity to distinguish details and colors.
• Good organizational skills to collect and assemble ingredients, coordinate timetables, schedule work assignments with coworkers, and organize and maintain product files.
• Ability to accurately follow verbal and written instructions.
• Written communication skills to make entries on production lists, mixing sheets, and ink worksheets.
• Accurate computation skills to measure ingredients using scales, calculate ingredient amounts, and estimate quantities as needed.
• Good problem-solving skills to determine appropriate actions for resolution.
• Ability to work with a team.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stoop, pull, push, twist, bend, and reach; maintain balance while lifting; and demonstrate manual dexterity when adjusting machines.

Responsibilities

• Measure dry and liquid ingredients.
• Prepare ink for production-floor labels with the ink name, PMS color when necessary, and the date mixed.
• Complete ink worksheets and quality checks before moving colors from kettles.
• Prepare base for production-floor labels with the base name.
• Complete batch worksheets and quality checks before transferring base to a container.
• Maintain adequate supplies of colors for production needs.
• Reference production schedules and pull mixing batch cards.
• Calculate the amount of each color and required ingredients.
• Locate and obtain each color on the production floor.
• Clean equipment as needed and as soon as practically possible.
• Clean the mixing room, including floors, doors, and pipes, as needed and as soon as practically possible.
• Keep drums and powder bins full.
• Record ingredient lot numbers and dates on the lot tracking log.
