About The Position

This role involves teaching Middle School Spanish students within an International Baccalaureate® (IB) program. The teacher will employ diverse teaching methods to cater to various learning styles and abilities, preparing engaging lessons that align with curriculum, child development, and student needs. A key aspect is fostering an inclusive, globally-minded classroom that respects diverse perspectives and backgrounds. The position requires effective communication with parents, colleagues, and administrators, and the utilization of assessments and student data to guide instruction. Creating a positive and engaging learning environment with clear expectations for classwork, homework, and assessments is essential. The role also emphasizes maintaining a culture of literacy and inquiry, supporting critical thinking through literature and resources. Responsibilities include meeting reporting deadlines, maintaining substitute plans, and actively participating in professional development, including IB training, and goal setting with administrators. Attendance and active participation in faculty meetings are expected, as is effective communication in a multicultural environment and efficient task management. Technology integration to enhance learning tasks is also a component of this role. Prior to starting, candidates must pass a federal fingerprint background check through MACHS and register with the Family Care Safety Registry.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Education, Languages (English, French, Spanish), English Education, Teaching, or a related field.
Hold or be eligible for a Missouri Teaching Certificate, or, for non-US degreed candidates (License/Diploma), have valid credentials to teach in home country in accordance with MO Revised Statutes 160.420.
Demonstrated ability to teach novice and intermediate Spanish in a K-8 setting.
Demonstrated effective classroom management skills.

Continue to engage in professional development opportunities (including IB training) to update knowledge of content area(s).
Engage in professional goal setting and review process with assigned administrator.
Attend and actively participate in all divisional and departmental/team faculty meetings.
Work and communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.
Manage multiple tasks efficiently and to meet deadlines.
Integrate technology to augment, modify and redefine learning tasks.
Pass federal fingerprint background through MACHS and register with the Family Care Safety Registry prior to assuming responsibility for classroom teaching (may be done post hire).
