About The Position

Seeking Middle School French Immersion Science Teachers to employ a variety of teaching methods to engage different learning styles and ability levels. The ideal candidate will prepare motivating and stimulating lessons that reflect knowledge of the curriculum, child development, and students’ varying abilities. This role encourages an inclusive classroom that accepts the different perspectives and backgrounds of students and nurtures them to be globally minded. The teacher will communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators, and respond promptly to parents’ concerns. They will utilize a variety of assessments and student data to inform lessons and instructional activities, creating a positive and engaging learning environment with clear expectations, routines, and procedures for classwork, homework, and assessments. The teacher will maintain a culture of literacy and inquiry through the use of current literature and other instructional resources that support critical thinking. This role requires meeting grade reporting deadlines and requirements, following school-wide procedures for monitoring and providing feedback on student progress, and maintaining substitute plans. The teacher will continue to engage in professional development opportunities (including IB training) to update knowledge of content area(s) and engage in professional goal setting and review processes with assigned administrators. Active participation in all divisional and departmental/team faculty meetings is expected. The teacher will work and communicate effectively in a multicultural environment, manage multiple tasks efficiently, and integrate technology to augment, modify, and redefine learning tasks. Successful candidates must pass federal fingerprint background through MACHS and register with the Family Care Safety Registry prior to assuming responsibility for classroom teaching (may be done post hire). These positions will teach middle school science courses in a French immersion environment.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Education, Foreign Language Education or field related to the assigned content area (i.e. Chemistry, Physics).
Hold or be eligible for a Missouri Teaching Certificate, or, for non-US degreed candidates (Licence/Diploma), have valid credentials to teach in home country in accordance with MO Revised Statutes 160.420.
Demonstrated ability to teach assigned content in French (native or near-native proficiency in French).
Demonstrated effective classroom management skills.
