About The Position

Seeking a High School French Immersion Science Teacher to employ a variety of teaching methods to engage different learning styles and ability levels. The ideal candidate will prepare motivating and stimulating lessons that reflect knowledge of the curriculum, child development, and students’ varying abilities. This role encourages an inclusive classroom that accepts the different perspectives and backgrounds of students and nurtures them to be globally minded. The teacher will communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators, and respond promptly to parents’ concerns. They will utilize a variety of assessments and student data to inform lessons and instructional activities, and create a learning environment that is positive and engaging, communicating clear expectations, routines and procedures for classwork, homework and assessments. This position maintains a culture of literacy and inquiry through the use of current literature and other instructional resources that support critical thinking. The teacher will meet grade reporting deadlines and requirements and follow school-wide procedures for monitoring and providing feedback on student progress. They will maintain substitute plans and engage substitutes in advance when needed and when possible. The role requires continuous engagement in professional development opportunities (including IB training) to update knowledge of content area(s) and engage in professional goal setting and review process with assigned administrator. The teacher will attend and actively participate in all divisional and departmental/team faculty meetings and work and communicate effectively in a multicultural environment. This role requires managing multiple tasks efficiently and to meet deadlines, and integrating technology to augment, modify and redefine learning tasks. Successful candidates must pass federal fingerprint background through MACHS and register with the Family Care Safety Registry prior to assuming responsibility for classroom teaching (may be done post hire). These positions will teach high school science courses, including chemistry and physics.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Education, Foreign Language Education or field related to the assigned content area (i.e. Chemistry, Physics).
Hold or be eligible for a Missouri Teaching Certificate, or, for non-US degreed candidates (Licence/Diploma), have valid credentials to teach in home country in accordance with MO Revised Statutes 160.420.
Demonstrated ability to teach assigned content in French (native or near-native proficiency in French).
Demonstrated effective classroom management skills.
