About The Position

Seeking a High School French Immersion Science Teacher to join our team. This role involves teaching high school science courses, including chemistry and physics, within a French immersion environment. The ideal candidate will foster an inclusive and globally-minded classroom, utilize diverse teaching methods, and effectively manage student learning and progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Education, Foreign Language Education or field related to the assigned content area (i.e. Chemistry, Physics).
  • Hold or be eligible for a Missouri Teaching Certificate, or, for non-US degreed candidates (Licence/Diploma), have valid credentials to teach in home country in accordance with MO Revised Statutes 160.420.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach assigned content in French (native or near-native proficiency in French).
  • Demonstrated effective classroom management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Employ a variety of teaching methods to engage different learning styles and ability levels.
  • Prepare motivating and stimulating lessons that reflect knowledge of the curriculum, child development, and students’ varying abilities.
  • Encourage an inclusive classroom that accepts different perspectives and backgrounds and nurtures globally-minded students.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators, responding promptly to parent concerns.
  • Utilize a variety of assessments and student data to inform lessons and instructional activities.
  • Create a positive and engaging learning environment with clear expectations, routines, and procedures for classwork, homework, and assessments.
  • Maintain a culture of literacy and inquiry using current literature and instructional resources that support critical thinking.
  • Meet grade reporting deadlines and requirements, and follow school-wide procedures for monitoring and providing feedback on student progress.
  • Maintain substitute plans and engage substitutes in advance when needed and possible.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities (including IB training) to update knowledge of content area(s).
  • Engage in professional goal setting and review process with assigned administrator.
  • Attend and actively participate in all divisional and departmental/team faculty meetings.
  • Work and communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Manage multiple tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Integrate technology to augment, modify, and redefine learning tasks.
  • Pass federal fingerprint background through MACHS and register with the Family Care Safety Registry prior to assuming responsibility for classroom teaching (may be done post hire).
