About The Position

These positions will teach middle school science courses in a French immersion environment. The role requires employing a variety of teaching methods to engage different learning styles and ability levels, preparing motivating and stimulating lessons that reflect knowledge of the curriculum, child development, and students’ varying abilities. The teacher will encourage an inclusive classroom that accepts the different perspectives and backgrounds of students and nurtures them to be globally minded. Effective communication with parents, colleagues, and administrators is essential, as is the utilization of various assessments and student data to inform lessons. Creating a positive and engaging learning environment with clear expectations, routines, and procedures for classwork, homework, and assessments is key. Maintaining a culture of literacy and inquiry through the use of current literature and other instructional resources that support critical thinking is also a responsibility. The role involves meeting grade reporting deadlines and requirements, following school-wide procedures for monitoring and providing feedback on student progress, and maintaining substitute plans. Continuous engagement in professional development, including IB training, is expected, as is participation in professional goal setting and review processes with an assigned administrator. Active participation in all divisional and departmental/team faculty meetings and effective communication in a multicultural environment are also required. The teacher must manage multiple tasks efficiently and integrate technology to augment, modify, and redefine learning tasks. Prior to assuming classroom teaching responsibilities, candidates must pass a federal fingerprint background check through MACHS and register with the Family Care Safety Registry (this may be done post-hire).

Requirements

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Education, Foreign Language Education or field related to the assigned content area (i.e. Chemistry, Physics).
Hold or be eligible for a Missouri Teaching Certificate, or, for non-US degreed candidates (Licence/Diploma), have valid credentials to teach in home country in accordance with MO Revised Statutes 160.420.
Demonstrated ability to teach assigned content in French (native or near-native proficiency in French).
Demonstrated effective classroom management skills.
