About The Position

Achievers Early College Prep Charter School (AECP) is seeking a CERTIFIED Middle School PE & Health Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. AECP is New Jersey’s first public charter school for middle and high school students, offering unique STEAM pathways in Health Sciences, Digital Media, Audio Engineering, and Cisco Computer Networking. The school aims to equip students with the opportunity to earn college credits, NOCTI credentials, and workplace training, preparing them for the current marketplace and beyond. The ideal candidate will demonstrate alignment with AECP's mission, core beliefs, and educational philosophy, be adaptable, solutions-oriented, and a motivated team player. Experience in schools focused on intervention, literacy, and content knowledge to improve student achievement is highly valued. The role requires a commitment to rigorous instruction, emphasizing student engagement, critical thinking, and literary analysis, with a strong focus on analyzing student work and data for data-driven decision making. A quantifiable track record of academic results, a commitment to feedback and improvement, and cultural awareness are essential. Teachers will collaborate to continuously improve curriculum and instruction.

Requirements

  • Strong content knowledge in Physical Education (PE) and Health Education
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Teaching experience in an upper elementary, middle, or high school
  • Adept interpersonal and communication skills to diverse audiences
  • Valid NJ Teaching Certification

Nice To Haves

  • Experience/comfort with online applications to enhance learning
  • Receptive to weekly coaching and committed to growing and strengthening practice
  • Familiarity with Google Classroom and virtual meeting platforms

Responsibilities

  • Create lesson plans for PE and Health for 6th, 7th, or 8th grade students
  • Use data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices
  • Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior
  • Implement multiple techniques for increased student engagement and checking for understanding
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
