About The Position

This posting is available to current TCAPS teachers only for the 2026/27 school year. The Middle School Content Leaders for Special Education will support with providing professional development, compliance tasks, and department meetings at their respective grade/building level. The Content Leaders will report to the Executive Director of Special Education.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching and leadership experience
  • Is a respected teacher leader
  • Team player and advocate for continuous improvement
  • Ability to problem-solve and envision future state
  • Demonstrate a willingness to listen and learn
  • Strong and effective facilitation skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop understanding and knowledge of the State/Federal laws related to special education and be able to communicate those standards to stakeholders.
  • Communicate and create district curricular/instructional initiatives to stakeholders.
  • Outline, implement and lead district professional development in special education for teachers across the district outside and/or inside of the school day.
  • Analyze data for the district and site buildings involving district leaders.
  • Assist with compliance tasks related to MDE guidance.
  • Examine and recommend assessments, curriculum, and course/unit adjustments for the district.
  • Other duties as assigned.
