About The Position

This posting is available to current TCAPS teachers only for the 2026/27 school year. High School Content Leaders for Special Education will serve as Secondary Core Content Curriculum, Assessment, and Instructional Leaders for Special Education. The role involves supporting professional development, compliance tasks, and department meetings at the respective grade/building level. Content Leaders will report to the Executive Director of Special Education.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching and leadership experience.
  • Is a respected teacher leader.
  • Team player and advocate for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to problem-solve and envision future state.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to listen and learn.
  • Strong and effective facilitation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop understanding and knowledge of State/Federal laws related to special education and communicate those standards to stakeholders.
  • Communicate and create district curricular/instructional initiatives to stakeholders.
  • Outline, implement, and lead district professional development in special education for teachers across the district, outside and/or inside of the school day.
  • Analyze data for the district and site buildings involving district leaders.
  • Assist with compliance tasks related to MDE guidance.
  • Examine and recommend assessments, curriculum, and course/unit adjustments for the district.
  • Other duties as assigned.
