About The Position

This position is a full-time, year-round schedule that will begin effective immediately. The Middle School Athletic Coordinator will have a working knowledge of UIL rules and guidelines and implement them in all assigned sports. This role involves mediating and performing administrative procedures for concerns or issues in all assigned sports dealing with coaches, parents, or athletes. The coordinator will support the DISD Athletic Handbook and promote DHS/DNHS Athletic Programs. They will also report maintenance issues to the athletic department and represent the district’s athletic program positively to the public, other school districts, the UIL, and other related organizations. Responsibilities include assisting with planning and conducting needs assessments related to athletic operations, meeting regularly with staff, developing professional development plans, counseling coaches on UIL rules and eligibility, and supervising coaches to ensure adherence to district policies and consistent technical fundamentals. The coordinator will supervise middle school coaches, mediate issues, and perform other assigned tasks. Attendance at multiple sporting events for support and supervision is required, including acting as the administrator in charge for athletic events during holiday breaks. Any other duties as assigned by the athletic coordinator/director will also be performed.

Responsibilities

  • Meet regularly with staff in individual and group sessions.
  • Develop individual and staff professional development plans.
  • Counsel coaches on UIL rules and eligibility.
  • Supervise coaches, ensuring they teach the same technical fundamentals and operate within district policies.
  • Supervise coaches at your middle school.
  • Attend multiple sporting events for support and supervision.
  • Act as administrator in charge for athletic events during the year, including during holiday breaks.
  • Perform other tasks and assume such responsibilities as may be assigned by the athletic coordinator/director.
