About The Position
Certified Group is seeking a Microbiology Technician to prepare food product, ingredient, and environmental samples for analytical and microbiological testing. The role applies approved microbiological techniques and methodologies, including aseptic techniques, while supporting routine testing, quality control, laboratory upkeep, and accurate recordkeeping. The position works as part of the Food Safety Net Services team and is responsible for completing required training and maintaining a safe, neat, hygienic, and efficient work area.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Broad knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of a food testing laboratory.
- Ability to travel is preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree in Life Science or two years of laboratory experience.
- Ability to travel.
Responsibilities
- Prepare samples for indicator organisms, pathogens, and chemistries.
- Apply aseptic techniques in daily work.
- Maintain media and reagents needed for daily microbiological testing.
- Inventory and report expendable supplies and materials needed for testing.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, including daily cleaning, sanitizing, and trash disposal.
- Perform quality control monitoring, including taking incubator temperatures, inoculating control organisms, and running media controls.
- Independently perform assigned processes, procedures, or techniques in accordance with FSNS policies and procedures and customer requirements.
- Maintain laboratory conditions, including equipment, supplies, quality assurance programs, and accurate records throughout procedures.
- Perform all activities in a neat, safe, hygienic, and efficient manner.
- Share information openly and in a timely manner.
- Assist with managing priorities and schedules to achieve individual and team goals, with participation in the Food Safety Net Services team encouraged.
- Be responsible for the safety of oneself and others working in the area.
- Complete required training.
