About The Position

As a Mia Italian Clerk at Hy-Vee, you help provide customers with fresh food and a positive department experience. The role involves taking orders, preparing food products and ingredients, maintaining product availability and freshness, processing payments, and keeping the department clean and organized. You work as part of a team in a fast-moving food service environment and may assist in other store areas or on special projects as needed. Training and support are provided; prior experience is not required. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills, including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Clear, friendly communication with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep pace in a busy department.
Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift; perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending.
Where applicable, ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation.
Where applicable, ability to work around heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment.
Where applicable, ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards.

Nice To Haves

Up to six months of similar or related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and provide helpful, friendly service.
Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone; help customers find products and answer questions.
Prepare pizza toppings, pizza dough, breadsticks, and other products as needed.
Pre-bake pizza crusts and maintain an adequate supply of ready products.
Monitor product freshness, rotate and replenish the cold case, and remove items past their date.
Receive products, verify orders, and place products in appropriate storage areas.
Operate the department register and process payments where applicable.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department.
Work with teammates to provide a smooth, positive customer experience.
Follow Hy-Vee dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
