About The Position

The Mia Italian Clerk supports the Mia Italian department by providing customer service and preparing, stocking, and maintaining food products. The role includes taking customer orders at the counter and by phone, answering questions, preparing pizza toppings, dough, breadsticks, and other products, pre-baking pizza crusts, and ensuring product is available. The clerk monitors freshness, rotates and replenishes the cold case, receives and stores products, operates the department register where applicable, follows sanitation procedures, and keeps the work area clean and organized. The clerk also collaborates with teammates, follows company policies and hygiene standards, and may assist in other store areas or special projects. Training is provided, and prior experience is not required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
• Ability to communicate clearly and helpfully with customers and teammates.
• Ability to stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy department.

Responsibilities

• Provide outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly, learning their names, and helping make each visit a positive experience.
• Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone, assist customers in finding products, and answer questions.
• Prepare pizza toppings, pizza dough, breadsticks, and other products as needed.
• Pre-bake pizza crusts and maintain an adequate supply of ready product.
• Monitor product freshness, rotate and replenish the cold case, and remove items that are past their date.
• Receive products, verify orders, and place products in appropriate storage areas.
• Operate the department register and process payments where applicable.
• Follow proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department.
• Work with teammates to provide a smooth, positive customer experience.
• Comply with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
• Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
