Mia Italian Clerk
About The Position
The Mia Italian Clerk supports Hy-Vee’s Mia Italian department by providing customer service and helping prepare, stock, and maintain food products. The role includes taking customer orders at the counter and by phone, answering questions, preparing pizza toppings, dough, breadsticks, and other products, pre-baking pizza crusts, and maintaining adequate product availability. The clerk monitors freshness, rotates and replenishes the cold case, removes out-of-date items, receives and stores products, processes payments when applicable, and maintains sanitation and cleanliness. The clerk works with teammates to create a positive customer experience, follows company dress, hygiene, and policy standards, and may assist in other store areas or special projects. Training and support are provided; prior experience is not required. The role requires frequent standing and walking, repetitive reaching and bending, and may involve food-service equipment, flour, dust, noise, temperature extremes, and occasional cleaning chemicals or solvents. The anticipated starting wage is $11.50 to $14.40 per hour, depending on experience. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
- Clear, friendly communication with customers and teammates.
- Ability to stay organized and keep pace in a busy department.
Nice To Haves
- Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and provide helpful, friendly service.
- Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone; help customers find products and answer questions.
- Prepare pizza toppings, pizza dough, breadsticks, and other products as needed.
- Pre-bake pizza crusts and ensure an adequate supply of products is available.
- Monitor product freshness, rotate and replenish the cold case, and remove products past their date.
- Receive products, verify orders, and place items in appropriate storage areas.
- Operate the department register and process payments where applicable.
- Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
- Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department.
- Work with teammates to support a positive customer experience.
- Follow Hy-Vee dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
- Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
