About The Position

The MHFA Coordinator and Outreach Supervisor provides direct clinical and administrative supervision to the Community Educator & Outreach Specialist and Military Veteran Peer Network (MVNP) Coordinator. This position provides and oversees a team approach to community-based outreaches to increase knowledge and awareness of LifePath Systems. This MHFA Coordinator and Outreach Supervisor is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and monitoring outreach activities of the Behavioral Health Division, Community Educator & Outreach Specialist, and MVPN Coordinator. This position serves as the expert for all outreaches, MVPN, and clinical questions presented by team, and will train, model, and oversee activities. This position is responsible for embracing partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders to ensure effective referrals and comprehensive network to meet the needs of individuals and families. This position will provide regular coaching to workforce as needed, ensuring outreach and statement of work standards are met. Supervision will consist of observation, check-ins, and regular discussion with team members on areas where additional guidance is needed. This position will seek to increase awareness of MHFA training, increase the number of MHFA training sessions available, increase the number of overall trainings completed, and increase the number of educators and community members trained. This position is responsible for maintaining all inventory associated with MHFA and submitting request for materials as needed. Additionally, this position is responsible for maintaining all other trainers’ certifications and tracking training requirement to maintain certification. The MHFA Coordinator and Outreach Supervisor will schedule and organize all trainings, handle all registrations and cancellations, and when applicable, provide all adult and youth MHFA trainings. It is the responsibility of the MHFA Coordinator and Outreach Supervisor to ensure that all requirements listed in the HHSC Mental Health First Aid Contract are met in addition to the other responsibilities provided by the program administrator and/or director of behavioral health. The MHFA Coordinator and Outreach Supervisor will develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with other outreach workers, school districts, education service centers (ESC), and communities to provide adult and youth MHFA, and will develop and maintain a list of contacts and make regular outreach attempts with the goal of educating and scheduling meetings and/or trainings related to MHFA. The MHFA Coordinator and Outreach Supervisor is responsible for collecting, aggregating, and reporting all data to HHSC. Supervisor will also be responsible for approving paid time off and bi-weekly timesheet approval of team members and works under the supervision of the Assistant Director – Outreach, Training, and Support. Supervisor will ensure effective communication regarding operations, performance, and other duties as assigned. This position will seek opportunities for continuous quality improvement and growth, and will promote a trauma-informed, person-centered environment.

Requirements

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field from a four-year college or university.
  • Must have at least 1 year of related work experience in the behavioral health field.
  • Knowledge of childhood development and mental health diagnoses affecting individuals.
  • Knowledge of mental health and emotional components.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care including cultural sensitivity and person-centered principles in all areas of service delivery and the ability to implement trauma-informed practices within scope of work.
  • Knowledge of the social services and educational systems.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other agencies, communities served, and the educational system using tact, courtesy, and good judgment.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently, write clearly and professionally, and read and interpret documents and data.
  • Ability to think clearly and logically to effectively handle potentially aggressive behaviors and emotional disturbances in a positive manner.
  • Ability and skills to utilize logic and reason to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively within a comprehensive treatment team.
  • Ability to proficiently utilize the computer including Microsoft Office to effectively and efficiently complete assigned tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in counseling, sociology, human growth and development, psychology, or nursing and licensure in the behavioral health field (LPC, LCSW, LMFT) preferred.
  • Two years of leadership or supervisory experience highly preferred.
  • Experience in behavioral health community outreach or education preferred.
  • Experience in marketing or customer service in the medical or behavioral health field preferred.
  • Experience in public speaking and presentations preferred.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain certification including additional modules in MHFA curriculum (Adult/Youth).
