About The Position

The Meter Technician I performs essential maintenance on water meters and service lines, including exchanges, repairs, leak remediation, cutoff repair or replacement, and relocations. The role also supports the Metering Department by reading meters, completing work orders and re-reads, and disconnecting and reconnecting water service. The technician follows city policies, procedures, and safety guidelines and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience in plumbing or similar technical roles requiring work with water systems.
• Valid driver’s license.
• TCEQ License Class D Water, or the ability to obtain it within six months.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with water meter operation and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct water meter exchanges, repairs, leak remediation, service line cutoff repair or replacement, and meter relocations.
• Support the Metering Department by reading water meters, fulfilling miscellaneous work orders, performing re-reads, and disconnecting and reconnecting water service.
• Follow city policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
