About The Position

The Meter Technician I performs essential maintenance on water meters and service lines, including exchanges, repairs, leak remediation, cutoffs, and relocations. The position also supports the Metering Department with water meter reading, work orders, re-reads, and water service disconnections and reconnections. The technician follows city policies, procedures, and safety guidelines and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience in plumbing or similar technical roles requiring work with water systems.
• Valid driver’s license.
• TCEQ License Class D Water, or the ability to obtain it within six months.

• Experience with water meter operation and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct water meter maintenance, including meter exchanges, repairs, leak remediation, service line cutoff repair or replacement, and meter relocations.
• Support the Metering Department by reading water meters, fulfilling miscellaneous work orders, performing re-reads, and completing water service disconnections and reconnections.
• Follow city policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
