Requirements
- A working knowledge and understanding of early childhood development and education.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures for young children.
- Skills in providing feedback, mentoring and supporting teacher development in their learning process.
- The ability to communicate effectively with families and including them in their child’s learning process.
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
- A high school diploma/GED and willing to obtain a CDA.
Responsibilities
- Support and mentor new early childhood educators by modeling best practices, offering guidance, and encouraging reflective teaching.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.
- Serve as a supportive and knowledgeable resource for parents.
- Provide guidance to new or developing teachers.
- Share best practices for classroom management, lesson planning and positive child interactions.
- Communicate and model positive and effective interactions with children and families while promoting parental involvement.
- Develop and implement developmentally appropriate activities daily based on the developmental level of each child.
- Help teachers/apprentices develop skills and build confidence in their role and professional development goals.
- Help identify areas of training and development needed for teachers/apprentices.
- Conduct screenings and ongoing assessments of each child’s growth and development.
- Use information to refer children with potential delays.
