About The Position

The Assistant Youth Mentor helps provide a fun, child-centered, age-appropriate childcare experience while supporting children and families in a sensitive and patient environment. The role assists with curriculum planning and implementation, maintains a healthy setting, supports children’s personal care routines, and ensures children are safely supervised. The position is part-time and hourly, paying $16.00.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Two years (2,500 hours) of verified childcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing dynamic curricula that provide fun, child-centered, age-appropriate lessons.
• Cultivate a sensitive, patient childcare environment for children and families.
• Maintain a healthy environment through light cleaning and support of children’s personal care routines.
• Supervise each child by identifying, seeing, hearing, directing, and assisting them, while ensuring a safe environment.
• Uphold YMCA, state, and Quality Rating Systems policies and guidelines to support quality childcare.
