About The Position

Student Support Services (TRIO) seeks an empathic, socially-skilled graduate student, particularly one who can relate to the background(s) of our students, to fill this position. There is a strong preference for students with training and/or experience working with college students. This position will assist with contacting incoming first-year students to explain the program and serve as a resource prior to the start of courses, provide data entry support, assemble files, and assist with filing, meet individually with current SSS students as needed, plan and collaborate to facilitate workshops, share knowledge and information related to applying to graduate school, research scholarship opportunities for SSS students, collaborate with staff to design and host program events, introduce SSS students to campus and community resources, and be a student leader for SSS Peer Mentors.

Requirements

• Ability to work as a team
• Ability to operate standard office equipment
• Adept at Microsoft Suite, Canva, and Adobe Pro
• Ability and comfort in learning to utilize new software

Nice To Haves

• Experience participating in or working with TRIO programs (e.g., Upward Bound, Talent Search, Student Support Services and/or McNair Scholars Program)
