About The Position

TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Classic at PCCC is seeking a Science Tutor/Mentor to support students in Life Sciences (Biology, Anatomy & Physiology) and Physical Sciences (Chemistry, Physics). This is a part-time, hourly position ideal for PCCC students who have excelled in these subjects or external candidates with a bachelor's degree looking to positively impact students' academic journeys.

Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
• A or B+ in the relevant subjects.
• 3.25 GPA or higher.
• Comfort and confidence working with students from diverse backgrounds, with sensitivity to student needs.
• Flexibility and genuine commitment to supporting first-generation, under-resourced, college-bound students.
• Demonstrate professionalism, creativity, enthusiasm and encourage student success.

Nice To Haves

• Tutoring experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Play an active role in supporting the overall academic and personal growth of students.
• Provide subject-specific content to help students grasp and understand key concepts to build academic confidence.
• Uphold program policies and procedures at all times.
• Follow the guidance of the Assistant Director to assist in carrying out the program’s policies and procedures.
• Reinforce material students covered in the classroom.
