About The Position

Under the supervision of the Crisis Stabilization Coordinator, serves as a master’s level professional clinician performing a wide range of direct and indirect services within a multi-disciplinary, crisis-oriented team to consumers experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, substance use disorders and developmental disabilities who are in crisis, needing stabilization. Responsible for extensive case documentation. Assesses challenging behaviors and emotional trauma by interviewing and observing consumers, reviewing appropriate records and developing a specific crisis stabilization plan often using a strength-based model. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Possession of a master’s degree in social work, Psychology or related field is required.
  • One year experience (professional or paraprofessional) in treating or working with persons with mental illness required or one academic year of graduate practicum/internship experience working with persons experiencing mental health crisis required.
  • Possession of appropriate State of Michigan credentials is required.
  • Must pass background verification and credentialing procedure consisting of: Michigan State Police clearance check, undergo & pass Central Registry Screening, verification of a professional license, Medicaid/Medicare verification, educational background check and verification of an acceptable work history.
  • Must be able to perform Handle with Care Behavior Management techniques according to approved Agency standards.
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license is required.
  • Access to reliable means of transportation for job-related use required.
  • Must pass a State of Michigan police clearance check.
  • May be required to be fingerprinted.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
