About The Position

Under the supervision of a Coordinator or Supervisor, this role provides a supportive atmosphere for adults and children experiencing acute mental health crisis. The Mental Health Worker works extensively with community emergency personnel, including police officers and EMTs, responds to and oversees crisis situations, and monitors program activity. This position assists therapists and interacts with consumers in a short-term crisis intervention program. Duties include a variety of supportive services and direct interventions with adults and children experiencing behavioral health crisis in accordance with treatment plans developed by professional personnel. The role is responsible for maintaining a secure environment and carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Possession of a High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • A minimum of six months’ experience working with consumers experiencing mental health crisis.
  • Ability to problem solve crisis situations and de-escalate behavioral health crisis with Consumers both individually and in group settings.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of clinical diagnoses for this population.
  • Ability to process information to recognize problems and solutions.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and effectiveness in interpersonal skills including productivity and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to communicate accurately and effectively both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to process extensive documentation.

Responsibilities
