About The Position

This role serves as a master’s level professional clinician performing a wide range of direct and indirect services within a multi-disciplinary, crisis-oriented team to consumers experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, substance use disorders and developmental disabilities who are in crisis, needing stabilization. The position is responsible for extensive case documentation, assessing challenging behaviors and emotional trauma by interviewing and observing consumers, reviewing appropriate records and developing a specific crisis stabilization plan often using a strength-based model. The therapist is responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Possession of a master’s degree in social work, Psychology or related field.
• One year experience (professional or paraprofessional) in treating or working with persons with mental illness or one academic year of graduate practicum/internship experience working with persons experiencing mental health crisis.
• Possession of appropriate State of Michigan credentials.
• Must pass background verification and credentialing procedure consisting of: Michigan State Police clearance check, undergo & pass Central Registry Screening, verification of a professional license, Medicaid/Medicare verification, educational background check and verification of an acceptable work history.
• Must be able to perform Handle with Care Behavior Management techniques according to approved Agency standards.
• Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license.
• Access to reliable means of transportation for job-related use.
• Must pass a State of Michigan police clearance check.
• May be required to be fingerprinted.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
