About The Position
Baptist Medical Center is seeking a Mental Health Technician for the Behavioral Health Unit in the pediatric unit at Wolfson Children’s Hospital in downtown Jacksonville, Florida. This is a PRN days opportunity with a 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. schedule. The role provides patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse, supporting safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment. The position is located at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. A Crisis Prevention Certification (CPI) must be obtained within 90 days of hire. Positions requiring a Level II background screening undergo detailed fingerprint-based state (FDLE) and national (FBI) criminal-history screening as a condition of employment and continued employment.
Requirements
- Behavioral Health experience.
- High school diploma.
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Crisis Prevention Certification (CPI); must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Responsibilities
- Provide care to patients in a manner that considers safety, comfort, and the therapeutic environment under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
- Document observations on assigned patients.
- Communicate appropriate information regarding patients’ conditions.
- Assist with patient education groups.
- Provide total milieu supervision.
- Assist with admissions and discharges as assigned.
