About The Position

Empower Community Care is seeking a compassionate, dedicated professional to provide Multisystemic Therapy (MST) to youth ages 12–17 and their families. The role empowers families to create strength-based behavior changes that continue after treatment ends. The therapist works with families, youth, communities, and other members of the youth’s support system to implement the MST model as designed, addressing challenging or problematic behavior and, in some cases, substance abuse. Treatment may include skill building, changing unhelpful family interactions, and increasing social support. The position requires providing therapy in family homes, traveling throughout the designated service territory, and maintaining a flexible, non-traditional schedule that may include evenings and weekends based on family availability. The professional participates in ongoing MST training, supervision, consultation, and professional development, and helps ensure clients can access support 24 hours a day, seven days a week as needed.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, or a related subject area.
  • Required professional licensure in a related field: LMSW, LPC-A, LMFT, LCSW, or LPC.
  • Experience serving families in community-based programs.
  • Ability and willingness to work with families in their own homes.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong clinical skills.
  • Ability to adapt and individualize program interventions to use family strengths and skills.
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks and meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s license, current insurance and vehicle registration, and a clear driving record.
  • Clear criminal background check.
  • Must live within one hour of the designated service area.
  • Clear drug screen results from the organization’s designated medical facility.
  • Must be comfortable working with a diverse community of clients and have knowledge of the types of families in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical treatment using the MST treatment model and principles, including leveraging strengths, focusing on the positive, understanding behavior sequences, and increasing mature behavior.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of clients and families, gathering information about behaviors of concern and strengths within the family and its ecology to inform treatment conceptualization.
  • Engage primary caregivers, family members, support networks, and community agency staff—including school, probation, and child welfare—in change-oriented treatment.
  • Participate in weekly case planning and evaluation of case progress, with support from supervisors and team members.
  • Participate in regular MST training, professional development, supervision, and consultation to develop clinical skills in the MST model.
  • Work with fellow clinicians to ensure clients have access to support 24 hours a day, seven days a week as needed.
  • Provide therapy inside family homes and travel throughout the designated service territory to meet with families and provide services.
  • Maintain a flexible, non-traditional schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed based on youth and family availability.
