About The Position

Frontier Behavioral Health (FBH) is a non-profit organization with over 100 years of experience serving the Spokane community. We provide evidence-based treatment to adults, youth, and seniors facing behavioral health challenges. As a Trauma-Informed Care Organization, we believe in recovery and empowering clients to lead fulfilling lives. Our Elder & Adult Services program offers in-home and agency clinical assessments and services to individuals aged 21 and older, utilizing the Gatekeeper Case Finding Model to proactively identify and support clients in their homes. Elder Services focuses on promoting independence and enhancing the quality of life for vulnerable older adults through case management, outreach, individual and group therapy, psychiatric medication management, and peer support services. The Mental Health Care Provider role involves delivering client-centered, trauma-informed clinical behavioral health services across various life domains including health, education, employment, social/family, cultural, recreation, spirituality/religion, and housing. Services are aligned with the clinician and recovery models to support client goal achievement and are provided in virtual, office, or community-based settings. Specific services include sleep hygiene, mindfulness, emotional regulation, psychoeducation, community resource referrals, cognitive coping, behavioral activation, communication skills, administering mental health measures, care coordination, crisis assessment and intervention, identifying strengths and values, group facilitation, and program orientation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Must apply for a Counselor Agency Affiliated – Registered credential from the WA State Department of Health within 30 days of hire.
  • Must have an unrestricted and valid driver’s license, active car insurance and must be willing to use their personal vehicle in the course of work.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience working with people with a psychiatric impairment.
  • Experience with crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

  • Provide episodic, trauma-informed, person-centered counseling utilizing evidence-based practices within scope of practice.
  • Maintain client records and all other required documentation in a timely and confidential manner in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments, develop and implement safety plans, and provide crisis intervention and stabilization services as needed, including facilitating access to inpatient facilities for behavioral health care.
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate client treatment groups.
  • Represent the agency and its services to the community in a positive and professional manner.
  • Participate in required staff meetings, including regular supervision and weekly clinical staff meetings.
  • Participate in any required training, consultation calls, and onsite visits or reviews when required by contract.
  • Accept delegation and follow through with specific expanded assignments and responsibilities within FBH system such as quality improvement teams, task groups, committees, consultations, mentoring or training responsibilities.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with clinical, administrative and support staff, community partners, clients, and family/natural supports.
  • Identify and include the client’s support network and applicable involved community partners in care coordination.
  • Serve as part of the care team and meet productivity standards in accordance with agency program guidelines.
  • Develop and implement care plans with measurable objectives and obtainable goals, in collaboration with the client, evaluating client’s progress and adjusting as needed.
  • Collaborate with master level clinicians, peer support specialists, prescribers, care navigators, or other team members for additional treatment needs as identified on the care plan.
  • Provide care management services to clients including: Assist clients in identifying and accessing resources and collaborating with community resources on behalf of clients. Assist clients in the development of healthy coping mechanisms in individual or group settings. Provide employment and housing assistance as appropriate and necessary. Provide education on the impact of mental health diagnosis on important life domains.
  • Comply with all state WAC requirements and FBH policies and procedures.
  • Perform FBH charting requirements, correspondence, Workday, and other paperwork in a complete and timely manner.
  • Operate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • May be assigned to supervise bachelor’s level interns.
  • Requires travel to see clients in the community and travel between work sites.
  • Other duties as assigned by agency or supervisor.
