About The Position

Watercrest Richmond is seeking a Memory Care Resident Caregiver to join its Resident Care team. The caregiver provides day-to-day care to residents in the Memory Care neighborhood in a sensitive, professional, and effective manner, and collaborates with the dining and community program teams to support quality care. This is a part-time position working 11 p.m.–7 a.m. and every other weekend.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
CPR certification and First Aid certification.
Ability to communicate effectively with management, team members, residents, family members, vendors, referral sources, and outside contacts.
Ability to make independent decisions.
Ability to communicate in a warm, friendly, and caring manner.
Passion for working with and around senior citizens.
Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
Ability to stand or walk for 75% of the day.
Ability to concentrate amid frequent interruptions and work under stress and in emergencies.
Ability to perform work involving sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pulling, pushing, and grasping.
Ability to talk and hear effectively to convey messages, instructions, and information.
Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Certified Nursing Assistant, Personal Care Aide, or Home Health Aide credential; preferred but not required.
Medication Assistance license or certificate, if applicable under state regulations.
Experience with seniors in a Memory Care environment.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with personal care, activities of daily living, and activity engagement as assigned or requested.
Perform daily housekeeping tasks according to established procedures and standards.
Review and participate in 24 Hour Reports, Daily Logs, Shift Cross-over Reports, and verbal reports as needed.
Assist residents to and from scheduled programs.
Participate in resident programming when scheduled or needed.
Promote residents’ personal choices, independence, and spiritual needs.
Perform assigned laundry duties and help clean and tidy residents’ rooms.
Respond to resident emergency calls.
Dispose of used resident hygiene care products.
Immediately report changes in residents’ conditions to the Memory Care Director or Resident Wellness Director (Director of Nursing).
Check residents every two hours or as required.
Maintain established infection-control practices.
Report hazardous conditions and equipment to the Memory Care Director.
Clean and properly store equipment at the end of each shift.
Report burned-out light bulbs and lights, including exit, overhead, and emergency call lights, to the supervisor as soon as possible on the day they are found.
Report all accidents and incidents to the supervisor as soon as possible, regardless of severity.
Maintain the confidentiality of residents’ personal care information.
Honor residents’ personal and property rights.
Be knowledgeable and prepared for emergencies, including disasters and fires.
Wear the company uniform and remain resident-ready.
Collaborate with the dining and community program teams to support quality care for residents.
