About The Position

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum has an opening for a full-time, exempt Membership Coordinator in its Development department. Located in downtown Nashville, the museum documents and interprets the history of country music. It is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and combines subject expertise, research, and preservation with creativity in music, art, and history. The museum collects artifacts, provides educational programs, and owns Hatch Show Print and Historic RCA Studio B. The Development department oversees all philanthropy, including membership, annual giving, major and planned giving, special events, and foundation, corporate, sponsorship, and government giving. They also steward relationships with members, the music community, elected officials, arts organizations, and donors, advocating for the arts and publishing strategic communications. Their goal is to provide excellent stewardship to all who support their mission-focused work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience in fundraising, preferably at a museum or cultural organization.
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and experience achieving revenue goals.
  • Experience with customer service.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work well with and interact with a broad spectrum of personalities and diverse populations.
  • Must have the ability to resolve conflicts and respond to inquiries in an appropriate and efficient manner.
  • Must have flexibility to attend member events and programs in evenings and on weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Steward and retain the Museum’s 4,000+ membership base and recruit new members at each General membership level.
  • Provide detailed training for guest experience staff who are stationed at the Membership Desk, Box Office, and Reservations Office.
  • Support the development and tracking of annual membership revenue and expense budgets and assist with reconciliations and documentation.
  • Plan and support member events including but not limited to: The Big Gig member appreciation concert, Member Breakfast, Member Holiday Reception, and others, alongside the Director of External Affairs Events and Administration and/or External Affairs Events Manager.
  • Fulfill member benefits and provide excellent customer service and donor stewardship, working across Museum divisions and departments.
  • Provide regular reports and analysis of membership appeals, renewal rates, fundraising activities, and revenue.
  • Represent the Museum and its membership program at external and internal events.
  • Coordinate and help maintain membership operations, processes, and documentation, recommending improvements as needed.
  • Collaborate with the External Affairs Information Manager, ensuring membership information is captured efficiently and accurately in Tessitura, all memberships are recorded and processed within 24 hours, membership cards are mailed within 10 business days of gift receipt, and accurate reconciliation of membership revenue and expenses.
  • Advance IT related needs such as donation pages, member reservation web pages for events, and other items as needed.
  • Meet regularly with Guest Experience and Frontline staff to train staff to conduct membership sales and renewals, VIP experiences, benefit fulfillment, and general member customer service.
  • Communicate with the Reservations Team to train staff to conduct membership sales.
  • Communicate with the Retail Operations and E-Commerce to facilitate member specific website sales, discounts, etc.
  • Work closely with Creative and Marketing Departments to produce member brochures, newsletters, direct mail pieces, evites, and website content.
  • Work with the Museum’s Education Team to steward Family Community Counts members, which is a family membership scholarship/subsidy program for Davidson and bordering counties’ families and grants access to the Museum and membership benefits at a discounted rate.
