About The Position

Neo Cloud is a fast-growing next-generation AI neocloud founded by engineering leaders from NVIDIA, CoreWeave, and Intel. The company builds and operates AI infrastructure for demanding workloads, using agentic AI and digital twins to help derisk physical deployments and improve infrastructure uptime. This is a hands-on senior individual-contributor role designing, building, and operating Gridfield's cloud network. The role spans data center fabrics, tenant network functions, WAN and edge connectivity, and connections to ISPs, internet exchanges, other clouds, and company sites. The engineer configures production equipment, automates network operations, and owns the network end to end in production.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years designing, building, and operating large-scale production networks at a cloud provider, neocloud, hyperscaler, service provider, or HPC site.
  • Deep TCP/IP knowledge and hands-on expertise with BGP, IS-IS/OSPF, EVPN/VXLAN, ECMP, and QoS in leaf-spine data center fabrics, including IPv6.
  • Production experience configuring and operating network functions such as NAT/CGNAT, stateful firewalls, load balancers, IPsec VPN, DNS/DHCP, and IPAM.
  • Experience with IP transit and peering, internet exchanges, BGP policy and route security, and private interconnects to AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or OCI.
  • Experience designing multi-site networks, including backbone and WAN design, MPLS or segment routing, and routing across multiple data centers.
  • Production experience with several network vendors and operating systems, such as Arista EOS, Juniper Junos, Cisco NX-OS/IOS-XR, NVIDIA Cumulus, or SONiC.
  • Strong Linux skills, including the Linux networking stack, and Python network automation using Git-based workflows and a configuration management tool such as Ansible or Salt.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, from packet captures and routing tables to vendor bugs, using tools such as tcpdump, Wireshark, and mtr.
  • Proven production network ownership, including on-call, incident response, and driving systemic reliability improvements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on RoCEv2 and/or InfiniBand fabric experience for GPU clusters and understanding of AI training and inference traffic patterns.
  • Optical transport and DWDM experience, including qualification of 400G/800G optics.
  • Experience running network functions on DPUs/SmartNICs such as NVIDIA BlueField, or software data planes such as eBPF/XDP, DPDK, or VPP.
  • Software-defined networking and cloud overlays; Kubernetes networking and CNIs such as Cilium or Calico.
  • Network observability tooling experience, such as gNMI streaming telemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
  • Experience bringing up networks for a greenfield data center or new cloud region.
  • Experience validating and safely deploying AI-generated automation and configuration.
  • Certifications such as CCIE or JNCIE.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and operate GPU-cluster data center networks, including leaf-spine fabrics using BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, and ECMP across front-end, storage, and out-of-band management networks.
  • Implement multi-tenant isolation using VRFs, VLANs/VNIs, overlays, and policy-based segmentation.
  • Bring up clusters and sites by translating designs into configurations, validating cabling and optics, and conducting burn-in and acceptance testing with data center and hardware partners.
  • Partner with compute and storage engineers on RoCE/InfiniBand fabrics, including QoS and congestion control.
  • Design and operate tenant-edge and inter-tenant network functions, including NAT/CGNAT, stateful firewalls and ACLs, load balancers, VPN gateways, DDoS protection, DNS/DHCP, and IPAM.
  • Select hardware appliance, virtual, or host/DPU-based implementations of network functions, weighing throughput, state, failover, and cost.
  • Build network security through zero-trust segmentation, management-plane hardening, and audited, reviewable changes.
  • Connect data centers to the internet through IP transit and peering, and manage BGP policy, RPKI, route filtering, IP addresses, and ASNs.
  • Build private connections to other clouds and customer networks, using IPsec VPN where dedicated links are not suitable.
  • Design and operate the backbone between company sites, including wavelengths, dark fiber, MPLS or segment routing, traffic engineering, and capacity planning.
  • Select and manage carriers, colocation providers, and network hardware vendors, including circuits, cross-connects, hardware qualification, and RMAs.
  • Operate the network as code using a source of truth, templated configurations, Git-based review, CI validation, and automated rollout and rollback.
  • Work with AI agents and digital twins to validate changes before production and enable safe network deployment and monitoring.
  • Instrument the network with streaming telemetry, sFlow/IPFIX, and synthetic probes, and build proactive alerting.
  • Own the production network end to end, participate in on-call, lead incident response and root-cause analysis, and improve reliability and performance.
  • Lead capacity planning for growth, including port counts, optics, transit, and interconnect bandwidth.
  • Set network standards, change-management practices, and runbooks; author and review design documents for significant changes.
  • Collaborate with storage, compute, and security engineers to deliver AI infrastructure.
  • Mentor engineers through design reviews, configuration reviews, and hands-on collaboration.
