Cloud Network Engineer
About The Position
Seeking an experienced Cloud Network Engineer to support the design, administration, security, and optimization of multi-cloud infrastructure environments. The role focuses on cloud networking operations across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and provides support for Palo Alto network security technologies. The engineer works with cloud architects, security teams, infrastructure engineers, and agency stakeholders to support cloud modernization initiatives in a large-scale government environment. The position is based in Raleigh, North Carolina, and is hybrid. It is a contract role with a pay range of $55.00–$65.00 per hour. Individual compensation depends on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other job-related factors. The contract role may offer benefits to eligible employees, subject to eligibility requirements and applicable plan terms.
Requirements
- Strong expertise in cloud-native networking, firewall administration, hybrid connectivity, network security, and enterprise cloud operations.
- Hands-on operational experience across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments.
- Extensive experience administering Palo Alto firewalls.
- Experience supporting secure cloud connectivity and enterprise cloud modernization and migration initiatives.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across infrastructure, security, and application teams.

Responsibilities
- Manage and support networking services across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Configure and maintain VPCs, VNets, route tables, network peering, load balancers, network gateways, and DNS services.
- Monitor and optimize cloud network performance and availability.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues across cloud and hybrid environments.
- Administer Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls using Panorama.
- Develop and maintain firewall policies and security rules.
- Support secure connectivity between state agencies, cloud environments, and on-premises infrastructure.
- Analyze and remediate security findings, vulnerabilities, and network incidents.
- Collaborate with enterprise security teams to ensure compliance with state security standards.
- Maintain secure cloud-to-cloud and cloud-to-datacenter connectivity.
- Support VPN, IPSec tunnel, and routing implementations.
- Assist with migration initiatives from on-premises environments to cloud platforms.
- Implement network segmentation and zero-trust security principles where appropriate.
- Work independently and collaborate across infrastructure, security, and application teams.
