About The Position

Provides overall leadership and oversight of shelter operations, staff supervision, and program development for the Medina Shelter. Ensures the safety and well-being of residents and staff through best-practice, trauma-informed approaches, and delivers direct services to support residents and maintain continuity of care.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in social work, counseling, criminal justice, or related field required or at least 5 years of experience in related field.
  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience required.
  • Maintain valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability.
  • Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Federal Bureau of Investigations).

Responsibilities

  • Leads the safe and effective operation of the Medina County Shelter by supervising staff, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, implementing comprehensive programming, and overseeing shelter systems, including inventory management.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates shelter policies, procedures, and program goals in collaboration with leadership.
  • Oversees and provides case management and intake services, ensuring survivors receive goal-oriented support related to housing, safety, and access to resources.
  • Ensures effective day-to-day operations by coordinating staff coverage (including hotline and shelter), maintaining a safe and trauma-informed environment, and guiding conflict resolution and survivor engagement practices.
  • Leads training and onboarding of shelter staff, interns, and volunteers to ensure consistency in service delivery and adherence to best practices.
  • Cultivates and maintains collaborative relationships with community partners throughout Medina County alongside the shelter leadership team.
  • Oversees documentation and reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with agency and funder requirements.
  • Represents Hope & Healing Survivor Resource Center by participating in community activities, coalitions and taskforce groups as requested or assigned by supervisor.
  • Adheres to Service Excellence standards at all times.
  • Complies with agency policies and procedures, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements.
