About The Position

The Manager, Shelter is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the DEWC Shelter. She oversees all aspects of operations and human resources functions ensuring a safe, responsive, and respectful environment in line with the mission and mandate of the DEWC and in accordance with funding contracts. Reporting directly to the Director, Direct Services, the Manager will work in collaboration with other DEWC staff to ensure services to women. She will work from a feminist perspective and within an anti-oppression framework.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a management position supervising staff, preferable within a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coach team members.
  • Ability to promote and articulate the mission, mandate, philosophy, and values of the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre.
  • Knowledgeable of the issues impacting women in the dtes, including gender-based violence, mental health, housing, and substance use with an understanding of trauma-informed care responses.
  • Ability to both work and support staff, within a busy, chaotic, crises driven environment where there are multiple demands and prioritize.
  • Efficient organizational skills including record keeping, scheduling, and problem-solving abilities.
