About The Position

As a day shift Med Tech/Caregiver, you will be responsible for administering medications to residents following facility policies and procedures. This includes noting and reporting errors, assisting in error prevention programs, and maintaining accurate records. You will also be responsible for ensuring medications are properly labeled, documenting any instances of non-administration, and accurately recording vital signs. Familiarity with medical abbreviations and terms is essential. You will perform all assigned tasks according to established policies and procedures, cooperate with other personnel, and maintain resident confidentiality. Other duties may be assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Certified Caregiver Required

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications to residents following facility policies and procedures.
  • Note and report errors in the administration of medications.
  • Assist in developing and implementing procedures or programs to prevent medication errors.
  • Complete necessary forms, charts, and reports.
  • Ensure all medications administered are properly labeled.
  • Chart medications according to facility procedures.
  • Document any instance where prescribed medication is not administered, including the reason.
  • Accurately measure, record, and report the vital signs of residents.
  • Be familiar with common medical abbreviations, symbols, and terms.
  • Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Follow work assignments and schedules.
  • Cooperate with inter-departmental and other facility personnel.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information.
  • Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of information.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisors.
