About The Position

As an evening shift Med Tech/Caregiver, you will be responsible for administering medications to residents following facility policies and procedures. This includes noting and reporting errors, assisting in developing error prevention programs, and maintaining accurate records. You will also be responsible for ensuring medications are properly labeled, documenting any instances of non-administration, and accurately recording vital signs. Familiarity with medical abbreviations and terms is essential. You will perform all assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures, follow work assignments and schedules, and cooperate with other personnel to ensure resident needs are met. Maintaining resident confidentiality is paramount. Other duties may be assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certified Caregiver Required

Responsibilities

Follow the policies and procedures of the facility governing the administering of medications to residents.
Note and report errors in the administration of medications.
Assist in developing and implementing procedures or programs of the facility that seek to determine what medication errors are taking place, when, where, and why they occur, and how they can be prevented.
Perform administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, charts, reports, etc., and submit these as may be required.
Ensure that all medications administered are properly labeled.
Follow facility procedures regarding charting medications.
Document any instance where prescribed medication is not administered, including reason(s) for refusal.
Accurately measure, record, and report the vital signs of residents.
Be familiar with the meaning and usage of common medical abbreviations, symbols, and terms relative to the administration of medications as used by the facility, pharmacists, and physicians.
Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with our established policies and procedures, and as instructed by your supervisors.
Follow work assignments, and/or work schedules in completing and performing your assigned tasks.
Cooperate with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other facility personnel to ensure that nursing services can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information.
