Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED), required.
  • Must have current First Aid, CPR, and Medication Management Certifications (if required by state) and maintain through training and ongoing education as required.
  • Must be age 18 or older.
  • Must complete required Background clearances, health screening, and provide negative TB test results within 7 days of employment (must be within the last 6 months).
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak English and follow written and spoken directions.
  • Must possess the ability to interact effectively, deal tactfully and professionally with personnel, residents, family members, and guests of diverse backgrounds always.
  • Must possess the ability to make sound, independent decisions when circumstances warrant, remain calm, and effectively manage stressful or emergency situations.
  • Must possess strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Must be dependable, respect confidentiality, and the rights and privacy of others.
  • Ability and willingness to work independently without day-to-day oversight and supervision.
  • Must display a positive and professional image in accordance with the MBK values.

  • In addition, at all times, during your employment, all associates must be in compliance with certain laws and regulations that affect the company, including but not limited to Resident Rights, HIPAA, State licensing regulations, and those laws relating you an associates’ professional license.

Nice To Haves

  • Food Handler’s Card preferred; training will be provided if required and not already held.
  • Nurses Aid Certification, preferred unless required by the state.
  • 1+ years of prior caregiving experience within a similar work environment preferred; on-the-job training is available for candidates with the right attitude and desire.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to resident needs promptly and kindly while maintaining each resident’s independence, self-respect, personal dignity, safety, privacy, and confidentiality.
  • At the start of each shift, read and validate understanding of shift reporting, new or updated residents’ Individualized Service Plan (ISP), and lifestyle surveys by initialing.
  • Complete all resident assignments as directed in ISP during the work shift.
  • Assist residents in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, hygiene (shaving, hair care, etc.), mealtime activities, bowel and bladder functions (assistance to bathroom, portable commodes, changing incontinency products, etc.), and participation in wellness programming.
  • Perform regular resident safety checks; report changes in the resident’s condition, including but not limited to mental status, behavioral expression, skin condition, appetite, etc.
  • Aid at mealtimes if needed, with selecting meals, serving, eating, clearing, and delivering room trays as needed or assigned.
  • Provide safe transport for residents by assisting with transfers into and out of beds and wheelchairs, using proper lifting and transferring techniques, and escorting residents to and from all meals, wellness programs, or other destinations, as needed or requested.
  • Respond to residents’ behavioral expressions with compassion; follow up as directed and according to policy.
  • Complete resident program leadership and engagement assignments, encouraging participation and enjoyment.
  • Complete all assigned housekeeping and laundry tasks for residents and the community, as required or assigned.
  • Manage oxygen tanks and concentrators to ensure levels are as prescribed by the physician for the resident's needs, and as allowed by the state, if properly trained.
  • Respond promptly to all resident alerts, emergencies, and requests, ensuring residents are always safe and comfortable.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, residents, and guests following established safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Understand and comply with Federal, State, and local regulations, and company policies and procedures concerning the department.
  • Promote and lead with a spirit of teamwork and open communication through consistent mentoring, coaching, and recognition program utilization, in alignment with MBK principles and core values.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned or requested by the Supervisor or designee.
