About The Position

The individual sales consultant is responsible for marketing and selling Blue Cross Blue Shield Michigan and Blue Care Network’s Individual business products, driving sales growth while ensuring retention. Responsible for planning, strategizing, benefit consulting and administration to increase individual and/or Medicare agent/broker written business within a specific geographic region. Accountable for developing relationships with agent clients, providing sales support and necessary training to agents to support retention and growth in the agent channel. Presents individual Medicare Advantage product benefits, including annual AEP and age-in meetings held throughout the state of Michigan ensuring all Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and BCBSM guidelines are followed. Coordinates and schedules independent agents and consultants that partner and support the sales and marketing seminars ensuring materials are available for events, etc. Represents BCBSM and BCN as consultative subject matter expert to the agent community and general public delivering a variety of presentations to audiences greater than 150. Includes cross sale of BCBSM/ BCN group to individual Medicare, individual to individual Medicare. Provide sales support and training to agent channel to support retention and growth of agent written business. Determine the decision-making process, personalities and relationships of agent clients to support the development of sales strategies and the acquisition individual and/or Medicare business in the agent channel. Provide in-person support as well as digital support to agent partners. Participate in marketing events such as seminars, trade shows, telemarketing events and various forms of community relations to support positive corporate and marketing images. Conducts year-round BCBSM and BCN sales and marketing seminars, Medicare expo community events, etc across the state of Michigan to Medicare beneficiaries representing all individual product lines ensuring all Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and BCBSM guidelines are followed. Knowledgeable of the senior market place competitive environment. Willing to be held accountable to maintain and meet deadlines required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Valid Michigan Accident and Health Insurance license.
  • Valid and unrestricted driver’s license is required.
  • Continuous learning and certification, as defined by the Company’s learning philosophy, is required.
  • Three years experience in sales required.
  • Excellent and effective presentation experience required.
  • Creative problem solving skills to drive innovative solutions to increase assigned organization’s sales and retain members.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and meet high impact goals
  • Accountable in current role and have a proactive approach and take initiative.
  • Knowledge of BCBSM/BCN Medicare benefit designs, underwriting practices, pricing guidelines and the Medicare networks.
  • Knowledge of CMS and DIFs guidelines/ regulations related to first tier downstream initiates, marketing, sales and enrollment as well as benefits/eligibility.
  • Proficient skills to use Microsoft Office products (word, excel PowerPoint), email and Internet.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in related field considered a plus.
  • Medicare sales experience is a plus.
  • Five years experience in health insurance, preferred.
  • Involvement in community relations and networking in specific to senior markets health insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales goals by assisting vendor call center by enrolling and new to blue members and retaining current members
